PACIFIC NORTHWEST RETREAT
Lush Surroundings, Elevated Comfort, Intentional Living | Anacortes, WA
Project Scope:
- Full interior home renovation and furnishing
- 4,000 sq ft three-level home
Timeline: Design 6 months; Construction 8 months
Investment: $1.0 - $1.2 million
Challenges: The home lacked sufficient storage and functional spaces, leaving the homeowners unsure where to begin. Without built-in cabinetry or a designated mudroom, everyday organization and routines felt disjointed. They needed a clear vision to transform the space into a home that supported their lifestyle with both practicality and ease.
For this recently retired couple, their waterfront dream home in Anacortes represents the next chapter of a life well-lived. Having spent years vacationing in the area, establishing friendships, and sailing on their beloved boat, they were ready to leave behind their family home and create a space that celebrates their passions and reflects their love of travel, entertaining, and Pacific Northwest beauty.

This 4,000-square-foot modern rustic retreat underwent a full interior renovation, blending natural materials, earthy tones, and thoughtful functionality to honor the home's PNW architectural style while creating spaces that feel inviting, comfortable, and deeply personal.
To maximize functionality, we reworked the floor plan, introducing a walk-in pantry and mudroom by reclaiming underutilized spaces. The mudroom now features custom built-ins for coats and boots, a pull-out drying rack, and a recessed ironing board, while the butler's pantry provides ample storage for food and small appliances, complete with a wine cooler, bar sink, and espresso station.

The kitchen was completely reimagined with a custom vent hood that mimics the trapezoidal shape of the great room's fireplace, walnut cabinetry, quartzite countertops, and high-end Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances. This seamless integration of style and functionality ensures the space is perfect for hosting dinner parties and creating memorable meals with friends and family.

The great room features custom furnishings, including a reclaimed ash live-edge dining table and a coffee table-ottoman hybrid, grounding the space with natural elements. Spans of windows frame expansive views of the water, trees, and mountains, further connecting the interiors to the lush landscape.

Downstairs, the basement has been transformed into an entertainer's dream, complete with a media lounge, a wet bar, and a game table. A new stone fireplace wall adds warmth and character, while sliding doors open to a patio overlooking the Puget Sound, where guests can enjoy a fire pit, hot tub, and native landscaping.

Every detail in this home is designed with intention, including the addition of "Inca niches" in the stairwell. Inspired by the clients' travels to Peru, these trapezoidal niches are lit to showcase treasures from their adventures, adding a deeply personal touch to the design.
This thoughtfully crafted home now serves as a sanctuary for this couple's retirement, offering the perfect balance of functionality, comfort, and timeless beauty.
"We had a wonderful experience working with Reanna on remodeling and furnishing our home. She saved us from so many mistakes we would have made without her! She was able to keep us focused and not get overwhelmed with all the decisions involved. What we appreciated most was our ability to collaborate as much (or as little) as we wanted. I can't thank Reanna enough - our home is exactly what I envisioned: a warm, inviting, and comfortable place to host family and friends."
